Yeah, I've noted that the price has been jumping on a lot of these things. I was lucky enough to get my 219 from eBay, where a lot of people are still dumping the old Guitar Center specials. Still, even those are going up.

I've been using my 219 with the ULN/2 preamps, which give me a ridiculously flexible sound. I used it on saxaphone last week and it sounded amazing.

I have 2 219's and I've yet to mod either.

Been watching the Jolly mods since day one though and they are obviously VERY popular as he has almost doubled the price for the mods.

Oktava are also aware of this as they have not only increased in price (250 euros) but they have now sold out of 219's and they are very hard to come by.

I'm going to mod my black version and leave the silver (original 1993 version) untouched.

The 219 smokes the Rode with ease and sounds in a different ball park.

If you want a REAL pro sound for the 219 then there is only one way to go and thats to get a Joe Meek VC3 v.2. (British version)
The opto compression will give a VERY Pink Floyd/late Beatles sound that goes hand in hand with the 219.

A Meek with a 219 is the nearest ANYONE will get to creating that Abbey Road sound, for the money.

Cheers.
