Submersible 2.0 in progress

So far, the new move of the studio is going well.  I’ve got the furniture up, most of the acoustic baffling and insulation installed (still need to to the ceiling) nearly everything’s plugged in, and I’ve moved on to hanging pictures.  There’s plenty of seating, incluidng the legendary Bauhaus Chair.

My corner traps look a little awkward right now, as there’s a “lip” on the wall that prevents them from being stacked in an entirely flush tower.  But I can live with that.   I have to say, in the new setup, my acoustics are remarkably tight and focused.  I’m completely happy with this.

I also need to find a place to stash about 100 DVDs.  And if I want more room, about 1200 CDs.  But the CDs aren’t causing that much of a problem.

Haven’t built a “vocal booth” yet.  My vocal booth I think will entail a pair of gobos with parabolic absorption on them, basically just to block rear-reflection on the mic.  It should give me a little more flexibility than trying to jury-rig a closet or the downstairs bathroom into a booth that might not accomodate instruments above a certain size.  I think I can build the gobos for about $25 in material, plus the insulation (some of which I already have).   Or maybe I’ll just save up for a RealTraps PVB or something.

It’s already functional, which makes me quite pleased.
